UTurn is part of the Essex Violence and Vulnerability Unit Youth Resource Network, covering the Tendring district.
Working from the UTurn Hub in Clacton, we listen to young people, help them discover local youth provision and identify gaps in the activities and support available across Tendring.

What the Youth Resource Network Does
The Youth Resource Network helps young people find positive opportunities and support, while making sure local needs and gaps in youth provision are heard.
Listening to Young People
We create opportunities for young people to share their experiences, concerns and ideas through group sessions, school assemblies, outreach and youth voice activities.
Connecting Young People
We signpost young people, parents, carers and professionals to youth clubs, activities, support services and opportunities through the Essex Youth Map.
Identifying Gaps
We listen to what young people and communities need and help identify areas where further youth provision or support may be required.

Why the Essex Youth Map Matters
Through its listening work, Essex VVU found that some young people did not know what support or youth opportunities were available locally. Some also said they did not have a trusted adult who could help them find this information.
The Essex Youth Map brings youth provision together in one place, making it easier for young people and families to find local opportunities, support and positive activities.
It forms part of the “voice of our communities” element of the wider Essex VVU programme and its long-term work to help keep communities safe.

ESSEX YOUTH VOICE PROJECT
Your Voice Can Make a Difference
Every year, funding is invested in youth work projects, community safety, sport and other opportunities. Listening to young people helps decision-makers understand what matters to them and where positive changes are needed.
UTurn will give young people opportunities to take part in the Essex Youth Voice Project through school assemblies, youth groups, outreach sessions and activities at the UTurn Hub.
The official Youth Voice cards ask young people for their age and a Yes or No response to four questions. The cards state that all answers are strictly anonymous.
UTurn gathers responses using the official ECVYS materials during supervised sessions. We do not collect Youth Voice Project responses through this website.

Working With Schools & Community Organisations
UTurn can work with schools, youth groups and community organisations across Tendring to deliver youth voice assemblies and listening sessions.
The Youth Resource Network also connects with professionals including youth workers, councils, local police, community safety partners and other organisations supporting young people, helping share information about local youth provision and emerging needs.
Sessions can include:
