Reports to: Youth Mentor Supervisor
Working pattern: Flexible working hours, including some evenings and weekends as required.

About the Role
The Youth Mentor will build trusted, consistent and professional relationships with vulnerable young people aged 11–18, providing trauma-informed mentoring, practical support, positive role modelling and opportunities for personal development.
This is a hands-on, active and varied role supporting young people who may be disengaged from education, experiencing social exclusion or facing other barriers to positive outcomes.
NO TWO DAYS ARE THE SAME
What You’ll Be Doing
Build consistent relationships and provide individualised support to young people.
Support and deliver engaging group sessions that encourage confidence and positive relationships.
Oversee individual projects and help deliver activity clubs, workshops and practical opportunities.
Engage with young people and communities beyond the UTurn Hub.
Represent UTurn at schools, assemblies, community events and partner activities.
Help young people access activities and opportunities that build skills, confidence and wellbeing.
ENGAGE YOUNG PEOPLE DIFFERENTLY
Sport, Arts, Music & More
A key part of the role is using sport, arts, music and other practical and creative activities to engage young people.
We’re looking for someone who is happy to get involved, try different approaches and use activities to build relationships rather than expecting every young person to engage through formal conversation.

More Than Mentoring
At UTurn, mentoring isn’t about telling young people what to do. It’s about building trust, understanding what is happening for them and helping them recognise their strengths and opportunities.
The Youth Mentor will work alongside young people, families, schools, professionals and the wider UTurn team to help create positive and realistic next steps.
