If Something Doesn’t Feel Right
You do not need to be certain that abuse or harm has taken place before raising a concern.
A concern might relate to:
✓ A young person saying something that worries you
✓ Changes in behaviour or wellbeing
✓ Abuse, neglect or exploitation
✓ Online or social media safety
✓ Sexual or criminal exploitation
✓ Harm from another young person or adult
✓ Self-harm or serious concerns about safety
✓ Something you have seen, heard or been told

Are You Worried About Something?
If something is making you feel unsafe, uncomfortable or worried, you can speak to a member of the UTurn team.
You can also talk to another adult you trust, such as a parent, carer, teacher or another professional. If you are in immediate danger, call 999.

Concern About Someone Working With Children?
If your concern relates to the behaviour of a member of staff, volunteer or another person working with children, you can raise this with UTurn’s safeguarding contacts.
Concerns about adults who work or volunteer with children can also be raised with the Essex Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).
