UTurn welcomes referrals from parents, carers, schools, youth workers, professionals and young people themselves.
Our support is designed to provide safe, structured and supportive opportunities that help young people build confidence, resilience, wellbeing and positive connections.

For parents or carers who would like to refer a young person for support from UTurn.

Who We Support
UTurn supports young people aged 9–18, and up to 25 where additional needs apply.
Support may be suitable for young people experiencing:
- Low confidence or low self-esteem
- Emotional wellbeing concerns
- Social isolation
- Behaviour challenges
- Risk of exclusion or disengagement from education
- Family or home difficulties
- Need for positive activities, mentoring or early-help support
Safeguarding
UTurn is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- All staff and volunteers are DBS-checked and safeguarding trained.
- Please ensure appropriate consent is in place before referring a young person.
- Referrals are handled in line with our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy and stored securely.
Urgent concern? UTurn is not an emergency service. If a young person is in immediate danger, call 999.

Parent / Carer Referral

Professional / School Referral
Please complete this form if you are referring a young person as a school, professional, service or organisation.
Please provide as much relevant information as possible so we can understand the young person’s needs, risks, strengths and support network.
If you are referring more than one young person, please use the batch referral upload option where appropriate.
Young Person Self-Referral
This form is for young people who would like to ask UTurn for support themselves.
You can tell us what has been happening and what kind of support you feel might help. If you are unsure, you can ask a trusted adult to help you complete the form.
If you are in immediate danger, call 999 or speak to a trusted adult straight away.
What Happens After I Submit?
- We review the referral within 2 working days.
- We may contact you for more information.
- We will consider whether UTurn is the right support option.
- If support can be offered, we will discuss next steps.
- If we are unable to offer support, we may signpost to another service.
Please note: spaces are limited and referrals are assessed based on suitability, availability and the level of support needed.
All referrals are handled in line with our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.
