Operation Shield
Operation Shield is a joint project between UTurn and partners in Essex Police, offering early support, advice and information around knife-related incidents and serious youth violence. The project helps young people understand risk, stay safer in their communities and access support before situations escalate.
Who it’s for
- Young people affected by knife-related incidents or serious violence
- Those who feel unsafe or at risk in their local area
- Young people identified by schools, police or other services as needing extra support
What we offer
- One-to-one conversations focused on safety, choices and consequences
- Practical information about police processes and support services
- Signposting into mentoring, group work and other UTurn projects
- Joint work with Essex Police and partners where appropriate
How to access this support
Young people are usually referred into Operation Shield by schools, police or other professionals. If you are worried about a young person and think they might benefit, please visit our Help & Support page or contact UTurn to discuss a referral.
