Volunteer
Do you want to use your time and skills to help keep children safe? Then become a volunteer for UTurn. We rely on your help to make sure we can reach more young people across Essex.
As a volunteer you can also learn new skills, gain experience of working with a charity and boost your CV, build your confidence, meet new people and most importantly, have fun while making a valuable difference to the youth of Essex.
Dedicated Volunteers
We’ve always been reliant on dedicated volunteers like you to help us in our mission of turning the lives of young people around. Whether you’re helping in our office or working one-to-one with young people, your support can have a powerful impact and long-lasting effects.
From directly mentoring and supporting our young people and helping in our office to building partnerships we have a range of ways for you to volunteer your time.
For the majority of roles, you don’t need to have any experience, specialist skills or qualifications. The qualities we look for in our volunteers are:
- Reliability
- Ability to relate to and empathise with young people and their aspirations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially listening skills
- Ability to be non-judgmental, self-aware, patient, understanding, flexible, positive and supportive in all situations
- Ability to challenge own assumptions and negativity
School Work Experience & Volunteering Opportunities
If you are aged between 14-17 years old, UTurn offers work experience and volunteering opportunities.
Did you know that voluntary work can improve your college, university or apprenticeship application?
Voluntary work allows you to ‘give something back’ by dedicating your time to a good cause.
Just like work experience, volunteering gives you skills and experiences that can be included on any future applications you make for jobs, apprenticeships, college or university.
